Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages was established with the name Ashgabat Pedagogical Institute of the Russian Language and Literature on the basis of the decree #250 of the Central Committee of the Communistic Party of Turkmenistan and the Soviet of the Ministers of the TSSR adopted on May 23, 1983 and the order # 86 of the Ministry of Higher and Special Secondary Education of the TSSR adopted on June 6, 1983. It started working on March 1, 1984, according to the order #23 of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Education of the TSSR adopted on February 29, 1984. On February 1, 1990, it was named the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute of Languages and Literature. On May 13, 1991, the institute was named after Dovletmammet Azadi. On August 11, 1995, it was named Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages.
To implement our esteemed President’s Decrees aimed at improving the education system of our country and ensuring the professional training of the students meeting the world standards, the educational activities at the institute are carried out according to the curricula and programs designed for the term of study of 4 years for the bachelor’s degree and 1 year for the master’s degree.
On the basis of national and international experiences, special attention is paid to teaching languages to improve professional speaking skills. Classrooms and teaching rooms equipped with innovative technologies and modern technical devices are operating at the institute to conduct effective lessons with advanced methods of teaching. Educational activities are conducted with the help of modern technologies such as modern audio, video, language laboratory, simultaneous translation, multimedia and computer devices. At the institute there is an electronic and traditional library which is rich in teaching-methodical, scientific and literary literatures, newspapers and magazines published in the Turkmen and foreign languages.
King Sejong Korean center and “Dil” languages centers, “Emirati-Turkmen corner”, Young Scientists’ Council, “Parahatchylyk dilleri” (Languages of Peace) club under the UNESCO and “Kamillik mekdebi” (School of Perfection) clubs, classrooms specialized in English, Russian, Arabic, Persian, Korean, Chinese, Turkish, Hindi, internet, consecutive translation, computer, video rooms and language laboratory greatly help in teaching foreign languages in accordance with the requirements of the society and the time.
