Towards the Heights of Knowledge: Winners of the IV English Olympiad
With the support of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the results of the IV English Olympiad organized by the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages have been finalized. Held with the aim of identifying talented, broad-minded, and intellectually gifted youth devoted to our Independent Motherland and beloved people, the competition became a true celebration of knowledge and creativity among pupils of the 11th–12th grades of secondary schools across the country.
From the very beginning of the competition, more than 3000 talented pupils from all over the country registered to test their abilities. During the first round of the Olympiad, participants wrote essays in English through a digital system on the profound theme “From Learning to Action,” demonstrating their creative thinking skills and writing abilities. Essays that met the standards of literary English and stood out for their rich and meaningful content were carefully reviewed by the Organizing Committee.
In order to enhance the international status and prestige of the Olympiad, Head of the Department of Applied Aspects of the English Language, Associate Professor Shahodat Usmonova and lecturer Bakhadir Babanov from the Uzbekistan State World Languages University were included in the Organizing Committee and the panel of judges. The competition tasks and test materials were jointly developed with the participation of specialists from higher education institutions of both countries, ensuring the objectivity of the Olympiad and its alignment with international standards.
The second round of the Olympiad, held on March 28, 2026, became a real testing ground for the participants. A total of 25 pupils who demonstrated outstanding performance in the first round completed 10 challenging tasks in reading, listening, and grammar through the Institute’s Digital Education Portal. Within the allocated 90 minutes, participants demonstrated not only their theoretical knowledge but also their practical language skills. The provision of a single attempt for each participant and the automatic calculation of results ensured transparency and fairness of the competition.
