Activities Aimed at Developing International Cooperation in the Field of Education
From 17 to 22 November 2025, the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages became the first higher education institution in our country to implement the project of the Russian language teaching-methodology school titled “Учу великому” and “Учусь великому.” With the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University and the “My History” Foundation for the Support of Humanitarian Sciences initiated the implementation of this project. The realization of this project became an important stage in the multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan’s leading institution for teaching foreign languages and Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University.
The planned training sessions of the methodological school at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages were conducted by Konstantin Andreyevich Kalinin, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Russian and Tatar Philology at Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University, together with Associate Professor and Candidate of Philological Sciences of the same department, Alexandra Viktorovna Potanina. For the students and teachers of the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature, specialists from the partner university organized a modern, well-structured series of lectures and practical classes in the Russian language. The lessons focused primarily on essential topics such as the etymology of words, the role of language in the cultural development of a nation, and the development of reading comprehension skills based on textual content. The training was conducted in accordance with the supplementary program “Innovative Strategies and Methods for Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language,” designed for foreign-language instructors.
On the first day of the training, a lecture dedicated to developing students’ literacy skills was held, followed by a seminar on methods for reading texts with full comprehension, as well as a master class that taught techniques for working with texts requiring structural correction. To ensure high-quality instruction, specially prepared sets of assignments were offered to the participants. These tasks were designed to develop skills for working with low-quality texts in terms of content and were distinguished by their focus on improving the learners’ analytical abilities.
During the training, one of the key objectives was to discuss ways to modernize current requirements for contemporary teaching practices. Turkmen specialists thoroughly studied the workbook prepared and published by scholar A.W. Potanina from Naberezhnye Chelny. As a result of this work, they mastered the methodological features of jointly developing three-level tasks aimed at forming intra-subject and cross-subject learning outcomes. Our instructors were also introduced to the stages of conducting scientific-research work in the field of teaching methodology. Consequently, Russian and Turkmen linguist-teachers jointly carried out a project entitled “Designing a Set of Didactic Materials for Teaching the Russian Language.”
A set of issues dedicated to digital educational resources and the interdisciplinary approach in language teaching held an important place within the framework of the methodological training. Based on a thorough introduction to the principles of designing a technological lesson plan, the participants independently prepared a sample lesson in Russian language built on an integrated methodological foundation.
The students of the Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages also took an active part in the training and methodological activities. As a result of studying the lessons delivered by experienced foreign teachers, they completed several types of assignments. Among these tasks, writing an essay about the Russian language using the reflections of Russian writers on their native tongue enabled the students to reveal and develop their creative abilities.
On November 22, 2025, a certificate-awarding ceremony was held for the participants in connection with the completion of the professional visit of specialists from the Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University of the Russian Federation. During the ceremony, the guests and Turkmen specialists and students exchanged views on the conducted training program. The distinguished guests from the reputable Russian higher educational institution, K.A. Kalinin and A.V. Potanina, expressed with pride that during their working visit they had the opportunity to become acquainted with the beautiful sights of Ashgabat, the splendid capital of Independent and Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan, and shared the positive impressions they had gained. The participants of the ceremony also put forward new proposals aimed at expanding cooperation between the two higher educational institutions. At the conclusion of the event, the participants expressed their profound gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, and to our esteemed President, Arkadagly Hero Serdar, for their tireless efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of education and science. In the uplifting spirit that prevailed throughout the gathering, the participants wished Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar saound health, long life, and great success in the International Year of Peace and Trust.
