Seminar on Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia

On 9-11 January 2025, an international seminar on improvement of the qualification of the specialists and teachers of the English Language on the topic “Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia” was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, at the Uzbek State University of World Languages, organized on the initiative of the British Council. Representatives of 45 leading universities in Central Asia - Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated in the seminar.

The senior researcher of the National Institute of Education of Turkmenistan, the teachers from Magtymguly Turkmen State University and Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages took part from the Turkmen side.

The seminar focused on the role of continuous professional development and reflective practice of the English language instructors in Central Asia within the framework of the PRESETT programme.

The seminar was conducted by leading specialists from the Norwich Institute of Language Education, Lisa Mann and Tom Kiddle.

The seminar will make a significant contribution to the process of accelerating English Language teaching in the countries of Central Asia and enhance the professional level of the participants of the seminar.
