Turkmen-Japanese Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation
In the new historical epoch, under the wise leadership of our Arkadagly Hero Serdar, Turkmenistan has raised its longstanding friendly relations with Japan, which is considered one of the leading countries in the world to a qualitatively new level. Within the framework of Turkmen-Japanese relations, humanitarian cooperation, particularly in the field of education, occupies a prominent place.
In the area of education, the issue of teaching languages is a key direction of Turkmen-Japanese collaboration. This is because friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding all begin with language.
Since 2007, specialists in the Japanese language have been training at Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. Graduates of our educational center, world of languages are actively working at higher educational establishments, 12 general secondary schools as well as scientific and educational centers throughout the country.
In 2013, our Institute established a partnership with the Japan Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the study and promotion of the Japanese language abroad. Within the framework of this collaboration, since 2017, specialists from Japan have been working at the Institute. Currently, Japanese language consultant-teacher Mr. Iwai Yufu teaches students enrolled in Pedagogical Education program (the Japanese Language, Turkmen Language and Literature), and also conducts methodological consultations and seminars for the teachers.
In addition, the teachers of the Japanese language of our institute are regularly sent to Japan for professional development training as part of the “Training Program for Overseas Japanese Language Teachers” organized by Japan Foundation’s International Japanese Language Center.
Within the framework of the Memorandum on Cooperation in science and education between Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and the University of Tsukuba, Japan, the teachers of the Japanese language of our institute and students are sent for studying and working visits to Tsukuba University.
Within the framework of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s (MEXT) “Japanese Language and Culture” program, students of the Japanese language department at our higher educational establishment are sent to Japanese universities for one-year study programs.
Moreover, the teachers of the Japanese language of our Institute, in collaboration with researchers and specialists from The National Institute of Education of Turkmenistan are preparing Japanese language textbooks for secondary schools of Turkmenistan.
