Turkmenistan-Romania: new horizons of cultural cooperation

In the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, in 2025 - the International Year of Peace and Trust, systematic work is being carried out internationally to study the lives of prominent figures in world literature, collect and publish their literary heritage, and disseminate their valuable views to the world. On the instructions of the Esteemed President, representatives of the scientific and educational sectors of our country visited Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on April 6-9, 2025, to participate in a scientific conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Neutrality, organized jointly by the Institute of Turkology of the Babeş-Bolyai University of Romania, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, and to participate in the presentation of a translated version of the collection of poems entitled "Magtymguly Pyragy’s Divan" into Romanian.

The speeches at the scientific conference broadly described the Turkmen and Romanian peoples as peoples who have made worthy contributions to the development of world culture with their cultural and historical monuments, material and spiritual wealth, and outstanding personalities; the fact that the historical and cultural heritage of the two countries is of great interest to the scientific world, scholars, and travelers today; the fact that outstanding writers have made worthy contributions to the development of Turkmen and Romanian classical literature and the enrichment of world literature with wonderful works; the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality; the role of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy in national and world literature; the study of the poet's creative heritage; the joint work of Turkmen and Romanian scholars in recent years on the translation of the poet's works; and new discoveries related to the poet's life and work. A senior lecturer of Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages ​​delivered a speech on the topic "Study of the History of the Work of Magtymguly Pyragy."

Also, within the framework of this event, an exhibition of classic books by our Hero Arkadag and Esteemed President Arkadagly Hero Serdar, books dedicated to the life and literary heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy, the bright star of world literature, as well as collections of poems ​​by Magtymguly translated into foreign languages, Turkmen carpets and carpet products, and women's handicrafts was organized.

At the international scientific conference, the reading of Magtymguly Pyragy’s poems published in Romanian, which were made available to the readership in 2025, and the presentation of examples of his teachings glorifying love for humanity and human dignity were unforgettable moments.
