INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN EDUCATION
Within the framework of the international exhibition and scientific conference "Healthcare, Education, and Sports in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State", held in our capital city of Ashgabat from October 10 to 12 in the year 2026—the year of "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan is the Homeland of the Purposeful Winged Horses"—a training seminar was held at Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, organized within the framework of the British Council’s AELLCA educational project aimed at improving the quality of English language teaching in Central Asia.
The training seminar was aimed at improving pre-service English teacher training (PRESETT) and in-service English teacher professional development (INSETT) programs, modernizing curricula, and developing English language teaching methodology. The training seminar was attended by the lecturers from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, as well as by the teachers of the secondary comprehensive schools of our country.
During the training seminar, practical sessions were conducted for participants on the principles of language teaching based on the communicative approach, methods of teaching pronunciation, developing language skills, teaching grammar in context, as well as planning lessons in accordance with various proficiency levels of students. In addition, important issues were discussed, such as determining language learning outcomes in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), improving the content and structure of the PRESETT program textbook, and ensuring mutual alignment between curricula and assessment. Within the framework of the INSETT program, training sessions were organized on the specific features of teaching and training teachers, conducting micro-lessons, analyzing lessons, delivering clear and understandable instructions, and improving practical activities in training programs.
During the training seminar, participants exchanged mutual experiences, discussed upcoming tasks, and expressed their proposals for the further development of the PRESETT and INSETT programs.
This training seminar played an important role in improving the quality of English teacher training, developing teachers' professional skills, and strengthening international cooperation.
Following the results of the training seminar, corresponding certificates were presented to the teachers who participated in it. This will provide an important impetus for their professional enhancement, mastery of modern teaching methods, and effective utilization of the acquired experience in the educational system. This is because raising the professional level of teachers, systematically developing their professional skills, and improving the quality of education are among the priority directions of the state education policy in our country.
We would like to wish our Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, who make consistent efforts to bring our country's international educational cooperation to the new heights, sound health, long lives, and great success to their noble state endeavors.
